Bonnie Bedelia Culkin (New York, March 25, 1948) is an American film and television actress.

Biography

Bonnie Bedelia Culkin was born into a Jewish family. She studied ballet in New York and worked for a few years on Broadway.

In the late 1960s Bedelia began appearing on television, and from there she moved on to film, where she made her real debut in 1969 in the film They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (Dance, dance, damn you), with Jane Fonda in the title role. She also made a good impression with her next film, which is why she was considered a new promise of cinema. However, Bedelia was very selective when it came to accepting roles of a conventional nature, which led to her making few films in the 1970s.

At that time Bedelia devoted herself intensely to television, a medium in which she appeared in numerous telefilms and series such as Bonanza, where she appeared as Alice Harper/Cartwright in the two-part episode "Forever", aired September 12, 1972, and as Laurie Mansfield in The Unwanted (season 10, episode 27), aired April 6, 1969.

In her career, Bedelia has participated in more television than film productions; among the first, the series about vampires (now cult) stands out Salem's Lot from 1979. In 1988 he appeared in the box office success Die Hard, in the role of Holly Gennaro McClane, wife of John McClane (Bruce Willis), and in 1990 in the second installment of this film, as well as in Presumed Innocent, alongside Harrison Ford. These three films again gave her remarkable popularity as a film actress. Three years later she took part in The Store , with Ed Harris and Max von Sydow, a film with which she also achieved significant success.

Bedelia is married with two children. She is the aunt of actors Macaulay Culkin, Kieran Culkin and Rory Culkin, all of whom are the children of her older brother Kit Culkin.
