Tappi Tíkarrass was an Icelandic band formed in 1982 that combined punk and pop music. Among its four members, the presence of Björk stood out, who was the vocalist of the band.

The meaning of the name Tappi Tíkarrass comes from a phrase by the father of the band's bassist who exclaimed that the band "fit like a cork in the ass of a bitch"; thus, Tappi Tíkarrass means in Icelandic "Plug the Bitch's Ass".

In 1981, together with former Exodus bassist Jakob Magnússon, they formed another band, Tappi Tíkarrass (Icelandic for “Plug the Bitch's Ass”), and released an album in 1982 entitled Bítið Fast Í Vítið. His album Miranda was released in 1983. The group developed a more experimental after-punk style with references to Siouxsie and the Banshees and the early days of The Cure.

Tappi Tíkarrass collaborated repeatedly with Purrkur Pillnikk and Þeyr. With the release of Miranda, the band had experimented quite a bit and Björk had collaborated with the cover band Cactus in different clubs, and a performance in the attempt to break the record for the longest performance in the world with the group Stigrim, whose video, it was directed by Óskar Jónasson, her boyfriend. The soundtrack titled after the film, Rokk Í Reykjavík (“Rock in Reykjavík”) served to strengthen the ties between the members of Purrkur Pillnikk and Þeyr with Tappi. At that time Björk also participated as a background vocalist and drummer for Rokka Rokka Drum. They only released two albums and appeared a couple of times in movies, the most famous being an Icelandic documentary Rokk Í Reykjavík with two songs, Björk also became the cover girl for the video. Later Tappi played in several presentations with other bands, Purrkurr Pillnikk and Þeyr.

A notable member of Purrkurr Pillnikk was singer/trumpeter Einar Örn Benediktsson who would later join Björk as vocalist in The Sugarcubes.

After releasing his second album and having explored all his musical possibilities, Tappi Tíkarrass decided to separate in 1983.
