Humberto Velez

Francisco Humberto Vélez Montiel (Orizaba, Veracruz de Ignacio de la Llave, March 30, 1955) is a Mexican dubbing, theater, radio and television actor with more than 35 years of experience., mainly recognized throughout Latin America for being the voice of Homer Simpson, in the popular animated series The Simpsons, a role he held from 1990 to 2004, recovering it in 2021 after 17 years.

Biography

He studied primary, secondary and high school at the Benavente School in Tehuacán, Puebla from 1962 to 1970; Dramatic Art, Set Construction and Theater Direction in Dayton, Ohio, United States (1972-1973), and Dramatic Art at the Andrés Soler Institute belonging to the National Association of Actors.

One of his first jobs as a dubbing director was in the film "Poltergeist".

It is popularly recognized as one of the best dubs of the voice of Homer Simpson along with the other members of the cast who gave voice to the Simpson family from the beginning of the series for the Spanish version of Mexico which was also for the entire Spanish America. He has also taught dubbing, commercial voiceover, voice and diction in seminars and courses at different universities.

In addition to providing his popular voice of Homer Simpson, Vélez is also the official voice of Winnie the Pooh, Lord Farquaad from Shrek, Fluff the cat from Stuart Little, Mr. Gibbs from Pirates of the Caribbean, among others.

He has also appeared as a guest on Alejo and Valentina playing Homer Simpson in the episode Lunching with Carlitox and reprized his role in an episode of the series Duckman.

Vélez was fired from his job as the voice of Homer Simpson in 2005 along with the entire cast due to a conflict between the company Grabaciones y Dublajes Internacionales (belonging to Messrs. Millet and Bilbatúa) and the Mexican union of the A.N.D.A. Humberto Vélez and his colleagues did not participate in the dubbing of the film. His replacement for the voice of Homero Simpson was Víctor Manuel Espinoza, alias Otto Balbuena.

However, in 2021, he finally managed to return to play Homer Simpson in season 32 of the series, after more than seventeen years of absence.

Throughout his artistic career, he has done film, theater and voiceover; in addition to giving conferences and dubbing workshops in Mexico and abroad. Currently, Humberto continues his work as a voice actor in many different series and films and combines his work in this specialty with the aforementioned activities. Also his nickname is La Bata & # 34; Cientifica & # 34; Velez.

He was married to the actress and broadcaster Cony Madera.
