Zetman
Zetman (ゼットマン, Zettoman ?) is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Masakazu Katsura. The series began as a one-shot in a series of four issues in Weekly Shonen Jump between 1989 and 1994, and is collected in a tankōbon released in 1995. A series more interesting and fulfilling began in Weekly Young Jump in 2002. Zetman has been adapted into an anime series that premiered on April 2, 2012. There are two works manga made by the cartoonist Masakazu Katsura under this title: a short work, published in 1994 and a series, published from 2002.
Plot
The story covers a period of 20 years, mixing the present with the evolution of Jin (a boy who is completely orphaned, when Kanzaki, his adoptive father, died at the hands of a monster) with Kanzaki's past (and the mysterious origin of Jin). Jin will discover changes inside him: once he gets angry he discovers a change in him, which he is unable to control. Meanwhile, the president of the Amagi Corporation is searching for an entity called ZET, recognizable by a circular mark on his hand. Once he locates it, he begins a perplexing investigation to discover all the data about the ZET.
The story is based on mutants known as Players, who, like Jin, have superhuman abilities. As the story goes on, Jin transforms into a kind of superhero who fights against injustice, unfortunately he also fights against his inner monster ZET.
Characters
Main
- Jin Kanzaki (MERCHING, Kanzaki Jin?)
- Voice by: Daisuke Namikawa, Romi Park (young)
He is the main protagonist, a boy with a circular mark on the back of his left hand, Jin was the result of the ZET Project carried out by the Amagi Corporation in order to create the perfect being to fight and destroy the &# 34;Players" They escaped, but he was freed when he was a baby by Gorou Kanzaki who wanted to see Jin lead a normal human life. He lived part of his childhood in the suburbs of the city as a homeless man with Dr. Kanzaki whom he called grandfather. At his young age he had unprecedented agility and strength and used it to help people (many times in exchange for money), in this met Kouga Amagi and Konoha with whom he formed a citizen support group. After the death of his & # 34; grandfather & # 34; Kanzaki, he went to live with Akemi Kawakami, a woman he saved and kindly offered to live with her. The Amagi Corporation that was searching for Jin finds him and incites him to become a ZET to finish off the players (who killed his grandfather). Since then he has been living alone in a slum while agreeing to many physical tests by Mitsugai Amagi to be a complete ZET, until he met Hanako whom he saved twice and began to fall in love with her, proof of this. It is when he swears to protect her no matter what and that together they will form a family and even have sex, he considers Hanako his girlfriend. After the Amagi mansion is destroyed, he hides out with Koga and Konoha, Mei, Shimura Hanae, and the two men in black suits at the house of a friend, Suzuki. While on a date with Hanako, he is attacked by the sweeper forcing him to transform into ZET in front of Hanako and then pass out, unable to remember what happened and not finding Hanako, he comes to think that he or the sweeper killed her. Convinced of that, he thinks that his life now has no meaning since he lost the only thing he had, and as soon as he gets the reinforced transformation rubber, he goes on a suicide mission against EVOL.
Jin is able to transform a creature known as "ZET", a mutant possessing superhuman abilities, but is often mistaken for another "Player". His transformation is slow, though it can be sped up due to extreme anger and current conditions. Although he had lost this ability but he recovered it with the use of a special gum that when biting it accelerates his transformation (chapter 67). Seiji tests it by stabbing him through the heart with a "special" to Jin which accelerated his transformation to a Red ZET and not white as before (chapter 102). Hanae reveals that Jin's pendant speeds up his transformation into a red ZET but that they don't have it with them. After a Jin clone injected him with a formula that reacts badly with her rubber, he has started having sudden blackouts, unable to remember what happens in that period of time. When the encounter with the sweeper and the disappearance of Hanako happen, Jin asks Hanae to make a more powerful rubber and speed up his transformation, then he finds out about Seiji's plans to destroy the Amagi corporation, so he and the two men in a black suit they are going to stop him by infiltrating the corporation building, meeting center.

Zetman, short play (1994)
In 1994, Masakazu Katsura made his first foray into character with a short story. It tells the story of Jin Kurono who, fatherless, was raised by his mother, who instilled in him a sense of honor and justice. But she, this one, was killed by a hit-and-run driver, leaving a mark on the heart of our protagonist. Already 23 years old, Jin works as a programmer for a new game: Zetman. Tired of the fact that there is no justice in the real world, he becomes his own superhero Zetman to fight, with unorthodox methods, against crime.
Collected in Japan in 1994 in one volume together with the works Shin-no-shin, Woman in the Man and Shadow Lady. This compilation was published in Spain in 2 volumes by Planeta DeAgostini in 2000.
Anime
The work had an anime adaptation. The director of this project is Osamu Nabeshima, who has directed D.Gray-man and most of the OVAs of Saint Seiya: The Lost Canvas. TMS Entertainment is doing the animation, Atsuhiro Tomioka is doing the script, Hirotoshi Takaya is doing the character design, and Gabriele Roberto is doing the music. The anime premiered on April 2, 2012 on Yomiuri TV and 4 days later on Tokyo MX and BS11 Digital, ending on June 25, 2012 with 13 episodes. The anime has been licensed in Spain by Selecta Visión and broadcast on Movistar+.
Inspired by Batman
Zetman is loosely based on Batman, of whom Masakazu Katsura is an avid fan. The author himself has multiple Batman merchandising items, including an original costume from the first film.
Thus, a parody of Batman appears in the first issues of Video Girl Ai, when they go to the movies, making a joke out of it by drawing batman with two bats in the mask. On the other hand, you can see an image of Zetman in a chapter of the series I"s Pure as the premiere of a movie. only here he changes his name to Zatman.
