Zamora Trophy
The Zamora Trophy is the title awarded since 1959 by the Spanish sports newspaper Marca (and awarded by said newspaper retroactively for previous seasons), to the soccer goalkeepers with the fewest goals scored in the First Division and the Second Division of Spain. It is named after the legendary goalkeeper of the 1920s and 1930s XX, Ricardo Zamora.
Regulations
To be eligible for the trophy, goalkeepers must have played twenty-eight games or more during the League championship. Only those matches in which the goalkeeper remains in play for at least sixty minutes are counted.
The Zamora Trophy classification is established, once the season is over, according to the quotient obtained by dividing the total goals conceded by each goalkeeper, by the number of matches played against them. Said quotient is obtained up to the centesimal fraction, classifying the holder of the numerically lower average in first position, and successively, in increasing order.
In case of equality of averages, the goalkeeper who has played the most games is not classified first, as we see in 1992/1993. If there is no difference, those affected are classified at par. Therefore, the Zamora Trophy could be won by more than one applicant (which happened in the 1992-93 season).
It is important to note that given the rules for awarding the Zamora Trophy, it is not necessarily always won by the goalkeeper with the least goals scored (in fact, in the 1970-71 and 1972-73 seasons the newspaper Marca decided to award two trophies: one to the best coefficient according to the rules of the award and another to the goalkeeper with the fewest goals). In the same way, as this trophy was not awarded prior to 1959, other sports newspapers have considered professionals to be goalkeepers who, once Diario Marca decided to retroactively award the Zamora Trophy to those who had won it in those seasons prior to 1959 according to the aforementioned criteria (best coefficient), they do not necessarily coincide with the winners of the Zamora Trophy. The current list of winners of the Zamora Trophy is published annually in the Marca de la Liga Guide, obviously this list being the only valid one to determine who holds the trophies (since it is an award granted by that newspaper).
Golden Zamora
It is awarded to the winner of five Zamora trophies. Only Antoni Ramallets, Víctor Valdés and Jan Oblak have achieved it.
First Division Honors List
Winners of the Zamora Trophy (given retroactively by the newspaper Marca to the goalkeepers with the best coefficients in the 1957/58 and previous seasons):
Summary
Antoni Ramallets, Víctor Valdés and Jan Oblak are the footballers who have finished the season as the least beaten goalkeeper on the most occasions, a total of five times each. The only ones who have won four consecutive Zamora trophies have been Víctor Valdés and Jan Oblak. F.C. Barcelona is the team that has had the greatest number of winners.
The goalkeepers with the lowest average are Jan Oblak in the 2015/16 season at Atlético de Madrid and Francisco Liaño in the 1993/94 season with Deportivo de La Coruña, both with 0.47 goals conceded per game.
