Yoko ono
Yoko Ono (kanji: 小野 洋子, hiragana: おの ようこ, ( Ono Yōko, kanji: 小野 洋子, hiragana: おの ようこ,?); Tokyo, February 18, 1933) is a Japanese conceptual artist, singer and musician. A member of the Fluxus collective for years.
Biography
Yoko Ono belongs to the Japanese aristocracy and was part of the avant-garde movement of the 1960s. She was a member of the Fluxus group. On March 20, 1969, in Gibraltar, she became the second wife of John Lennon. Adept at conceptual art, in which ideas are the engine and essence of the work of art, and can become even more important than its physical form and the use of production techniques. In conceptual art, the content, the message, the stimulus to thought and criticism are already art by themselves. In Valencia, the artist's work EX-IT was exhibited in the open-air gallery of L'Umbracle, within the surroundings of the City of Arts and Sciences.
Yoko Ono got to the point of organizing concerts where the audience had to imagine the music for themselves. She edited a famous book of drawings and art pieces, Grapefruit (Grapefruit), several conceptual films (such as Fly ) and countless records marked by experimentalism. Among them are the works Yoko Ono/Plastic Ono Band, Fly, Approximately Infinite Universe (1970s) and Season of Glass (1980s). In the 1990s, she released two critically acclaimed albums: Rising and Blueprint for a Sunrise . Until today, her biggest hits have been & # 34; Walking on Thin Ice & # 34; and, on a lesser level, "Never Say Goodbye".
His albums in collaboration with John Lennon include Unfinished Music No.1: Two Virgins, Unfinished Music No.2: Life with the Lions, Wedding Album , Some Time in New York City, Double Fantasy and the posthumous Milk and Honey.
In recent years, a remix project of his old classics has been wildly successful, with many of his most classic and hitherto unknown songs reaching the top of Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs charts. , such as "Walking on Thin Ice", "Hell in Paradise", "Everyman, Everywoman" and "Open Your Box".
Much of Yoko's work (plastic arts and music) deals with themes such as freedom of thought, peace, the fight against racism, homophobia and sexism and the appreciation of the small big daily sensations. A marked characteristic of her art (singing, writing, music, movies, drawings, etc.) is the economy of resources that generate maximum effect. The same motifs reappear in her work at various times, adapted, reused and charged with new meaning.
Yoko Ono exerted a great personal and professional influence on John Lennon. The Japanese artist was noticed from the first moments of the relationship. Many say that Yoko is responsible for the separation of the Beatles, a myth denied by Paul McCartney, since he says that without her John would not have been able to write great songs like "Imagine" and many that are included in the album Definitive Lennon. Filming during the recording sessions for Let It Be shows a group already tired and on the verge of exasperation by all its members. As Paul McCartney said: "A thousand things can be said, but only 4 know the truth".
Heiress to John Lennon with a fortune of $356 million in 1980, currently it could be $600 million. Meanwhile, the value of the real estate is estimated at $325 million.
