Features
Yellow Dog Linux is a derivative of Fedora Core and is based on the RPM package manager. Through the successive versions of Yellow Dog Linux, Terra Soft Solutions has invested heavily in the support application specifically for IBM and Apple hardware. As a result, Yellow Dog Linux supports graphics and audio acceleration out of the box, although some other hardware components, such as Apple's 802.11g AirPort Extreme IEEE 802.11g wireless cards (found in PowerBooks and iBooks) do not work properly without modifications. in the core.
Since v5.0, Yellow Dog Linux includes by default an Enlightenment window manager as the default desktop, although it also supports and incorporates other environments such as KDE, GNOME and Xfce.

Premieres
Distributed on two DVDs (one installation and one source), a YDL 4.1 has more than 1000 packages. Yellow Dog Linux 5.0 is one of the first Linux distributions to run on PlayStation 3. It has been designed specifically for HDTV SDTV so users will need to use the 'installtext ' and 'ydl480i' to be able to install and run.
Distribution
Yellow Dog Linux is available in two editions that offer two DVDs (installation and sources) for between $50 and $100 (with or without documentation). Part of the money produced by these distributions finances the development of the operating system. The packaging is designed to match the white polycarbonate casing of the latest PowerPCs, iMacs and iBooks, computers on which the desktop version is likely to run.
As with most Linux distributions, Terra Soft Solutions also makes Yellow Dog Linux available as a free download from public FTP.
