Yazd (Persian: یزد) is one of the 31 provinces of Iran. Located in the center of the country, its capital is Yazd.

Yazd County

According to the 1996 census, Yazd province has a population of 750,769, of whom 75.1% reside in urban areas and 24.9% in rural areas. The population of Yazd province is estimated to be 1,033,291 in 2006. The population of Yazd province is predominantly Persian, the vast majority being Shia Muslims, although there are small Zoroastrian communities.
