Yamato (大和 "great peace" in Japanese) is the name of various places, times, ships, and other elements of Japanese culture. In the Japanese language, Yamato is usually written "大和", but these two characters can also be read "Daiwa" or "Taiwa". These are also names of Japanese townships, and are sometimes mistakenly called Yamato.
