Wedge Antilles
Wedge Antilles is a fictional character of the franchise Star Wars . He is a secondary character played by Denis Lawson in the original trilogy of Star Wars . It also appears in the expanded universe of Star Wars , especially as the main character in most novels of x-wing. Wedge also appeared in the sequel to the trilogy The Rise of Skywalker (2019), with Lawson retaking his role, and in the 2014 animated series Star Wars Rebels , with the voice of Nathan Kress.
Before deserting the Rebel Alliance, Antilles was an imperial cadet (indicative: Tie SS25) of the Skystrike Academy. Antilles founded Rogue Squadron with his friend Luke Skywalker. His superior pilot skills, his deep knowledge of the imperial military doctrine and his tactical leadership rapidly promoted him through the ranks to become a marshal of the body of stellar fighters of the alliance. Wedge stands out for having participated in more sterling battles that ended with decisive victories than any other character; He led the allied assault during the battle of Exegol, piloted a snow slider in the defense of the base in Hoth and is the only rebel star hunting pilot who has survived the two attacks on the stars of death in the battles of Yavin and Endor.
Representation
Wedge Antilles was first seen in the 1977 film a new hope in the report of the death star of the rebels. In this scene, Wedge was played by Colin Higgins and with the voice of David Ankrum, who doubled the character throughout the film. For the remaining scenes filmed in the X-Wing cabin, the character was played by Denis Lawson. Higgins was originally chosen for the role of Wedge Antilles but, according to the reports, he had difficulty remembering his lines and, consequently, was replaced by Lawson for later scenes, but Higgins's scene remained in the final cut of the film. The discrepancy became a popular theme in the fandom of Star Wars , and Higgins acquired the nickname of " Fake Wedge ", an nickname that caused some shame.
Lawson repeated the role of Wedge Antilles in The Empire Strikes Back , Return of the Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker . Lawson used his own voice in these films, masking his natural scottish accent with an imitation of the American accent. Ankrum repeated his role as Wedge's voice in Rogue One. of Star Wars .

Wedge is not seen on the screen in the derived film rogue one , but his voice is briefly heard by the intercom in the rebel base in Yavin 4.
