WarGames: Defcon 1

Wargames is a 1998 action-strategy game for PlayStation and PC. It is based on the 1983 movie War Games. It is a third-person game and has two game perspectives:

W.O.P.R.

N.O.R.A.D.

Story and gameplay

In total there are 30 missions of intense battle and combat, this fight begins in 2003. When machines gain greater intelligence and have ambition to conquer the world. The machines also called WOPR (War Operation Programmed Response), fight against humans also called NORAD (North American Air Defense Command). Created by Interactive Studios

In 1983 it was believed that this would be the third world war, NORAD with the other nations they have to save humanity from the WOPR, in the missions you must destroy all the enemies or their bases, the objectives are given after finishing the previous ones or if you don't lose, the objectives are given through an email.

Special Units

Both WOPR and NORAD units, almost by the last Missions, could create these Special units. They had great attack power against other infantry units and could take over enemy bases.

Neutral Units

• Computer Center: Used to recharge the units.
• Scientists: Units to complete a mission or objective.
• Buildings: Decorate the war zone.
• Vehicles or Fixes: Decorate The war zone or are part of a target.

Hacking

It is when the units approach a Command center (NORAD) or a Command Complex (WOPR) or the Computerized Center, Wopr and Norad can use any, with the intention of being able to improve the main 3 Stats of all ARMOR units, SPEED and FIREPOWER, just as you could raise your stats, the enemy also weakened you. Hackers could also reveal parts of the map Randomly. Then comes the Transport helicopter (NORAD) or the Shuttle (WOPR).

The Orders

The Game Orders are very simple

Common Commands

All units can do them

1. Call all units
2. Call a single unit
3. Return to base

Other Orders

Only Scout Drones and Jeeps can do it, shooting a smoke canister

• Bombardear: comes a Devastator or a Stealth Bomber

All Units but must be near a Hacking location

• Hack

Banshees or Stealth Tanks only, circled

• Invisibility

Only the APCs and the WarHorses, they must be next to some troops, with a circle

• Charge

Defcon

In Wargames there is Defcon which is the danger of the level. Raise: When you destroy enemies or other's buildings. Low: When you bombard or let time pass.

• Defcon 5: From the start of the mission, it is the safest
• Defcon 4: High security
• Defcon 3: It has medium security
• Defcon 2: Has very little security
• Defcon 1: You're bombed first and then the units don't have security.

Tricks

Infinite Invisibility: When on a Stealth Tank or Banshee press circle and hold until power is minus 0% (-1%)
