Wang Changlin 王昌龄 (698-755) Chinese writer of the Tang dynasty.

He was a doctor and had access to the secret archives of the Empire for a long time before he had to go into exile. The biographical sketches do not reveal much about his life, not even the period of time he really lived is known, but as his name appears between two people who lived in the time of Emperor Ming Huangdi, he has always been believed to be his contemporary.

After passing the prestigious jinshi examination, he became an official secretary, and later held other imperial positions, such as post officer in Sishui. Near the end of his life, he was appointed minister of Jiangning County. He died in the An Lushan rebellion.
