A virtual airline or Virtual Airline (VA for its acronym in English) or virtual flight school, is a fictitious entity that emulates the activities of a real or fictitious airline, through a flight simulator.

They are non-profit organizations. Some take the name of a real airline (many are even sponsored by their "real" counterpart). The organized structures of virtual airlines often include presidents, vice presidents, pilots, ranks, and even real routes in addition to other features that real airlines also have. All these people and organizations dedicated to simulated flight come together in virtual aviation or simulated aviation.

Virtual aviation

Aviation is understood to mean infrastructure, industry, personnel and organizations whose main activity is aviation, itself. In this sense in which the activity and its material or personal means are encompassed, a first differentiation can be made between civil aviation and military aviation, depending on the nature of its objectives be precisely civil or military.

Within Simulated Aviation there are two large rubles such as Flight Simulator and Air Traffic Control, from the point of view of home training, to support the first ruble we find air simulators which are nothing more It recreates the concept of aviation in a system that attempts to replicate, or simulate, the experience of flying an aircraft in the most accurate and realistic way possible.

Simulated Aviation today is reflected in Pilots who fly from their homes and/or offices with Flight simulators such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, from the Microsoft company for its Windows operating system.

Virtual communities

There is a large user community for Microsoft Flight Simulator, partly derived from the simulator structure which allows for numerous modifications to be introduced. There are also many virtual companies and organizations, where pilots can do their tasks as virtual pilots in a virtual airline company. When the Internet appeared, Virtual Aviation communities began to appear, which were nothing more than shared servers where users who flew in Microsoft Flight Simulator could fly together and even exchange text messages through window messaging, then they began to leave tools that elevated the concept of simulated aviation further and not only allowed us to talk between virtual pilots (online), but systems came out that developed the other important ruble mentioned above which is air control, where now you could not only live the experience of flying, but also of being an air traffic controller, with a radar system installed on your PC.

Among the flight communities, the most important and well-known is IVAO, today with more than 36,000 Pilots and Air Controllers.

Operation

Virtual airlines operate through a flight simulator such as Microsoft Flight Simulator or X-Plane, generally connected to a network specialized in flight in line such as the case of IVAO (International Virtual Aviation Organization) or VATSIM (Virtual Air Traffic Flight Simulation Network) recreating commercial, civil and even military aeronautics as much as possible (fleets, flight plans, communications, itineraries, meteorology, etc.).

Since 2010, the sandbox game known as Roblox also began creating virtual airlines, with virtual groups that offer a virtual flight experience. In addition to each of these hiring, having ranks (such as Presidents, Pilots, Executives, Stewardesses, etc.), having its own fleet of airplanes, and having its own scenarios used as airports. An example of virtual airlines in this game could be LeMonde Airlines.

In general, they simulate the operations of real or virtual airlines, just as the means and resources necessary for online air traffic control are provided.

Many virtual airlines have registered pilots who report their flight hours (accumulating hours for themselves and the airline) through a website, although some more innovative ones already have automatic reporting software such as VAFS, COMPETE VA, AGV, FSAIRLINES and AIRLINES ADMIN or own systems developed by the VA.
