Villaverde de Guarena
Villaverde de Guareña is a Spanish municipality and town in the province of Salamanca, in the autonomous community of Castilla y León. It is integrated within the region of La Armuña. It belongs to the judicial district of Salamanca and to the La Armuña Commonwealth.
Its municipal area is made up of the town of Villaverde de Guareña and Cañadilla, it occupies a total area of 15.87 km² and according to the demographic data collected in the municipal register prepared by the INE in 2017, it has a population of 149 inhabitants.
Geography
Integrated in the region of La Armuña, it is located 17 kilometers from the provincial capital. The municipal term is crossed by the Autovía de Castilla A-62 between kp 222 and 223, in addition to the N-620 road, a conventional alternative to the previous one.
The relief of the municipality is predominantly flat, with an altitude ranging between 858 and 819 meters. The Cañada hill (857 meters) to the northeast stands out. The town rises to 831 meters above sea level.

History
Founded by the kings of León in the Middle Ages, Villaverde de Guareña was framed in the quarter of Armuña of the jurisdiction of Salamanca, within the Kingdom of León, then called Speola. With the The creation of the current provinces in 1833, Villaverde de Guareña was included in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonesa Region. On July 2, 1916, the town changed its official name from Villaverde to of Villaverde de Guareña.

The Parish Church of Villaverde de Guareña, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest on July 29, 1993, is popularly known as one of the three "cathedrals" from La Armuña, next to the churches of Palencia de Negrilla and Villares de la Reina.
