Victoria Pérez Díaz, artistically known as Victoria Vera (Madrid, February 19, 1956), is a Spanish actress.

She began her career in the final years of the dictatorship, being considered one of the muses of the Spanish Transition. She has filmed with stars such as Anthony Quinn, Omar Sharif and the singer Alice Cooper, and during the 1980s she starred in some of the most significant films in Spanish cinema such as Asignatura aprovada (nominated for an Oscar for best film foreign in 1988). Since the 1990s, her work has focused more on the world of television and theater.

Biography

At the age of five she began studying classical ballet, and at twelve she began her acting studies at the Official School of Cinematography and the Teatro Estudio in Madrid, making her debut on stage in the early 1970s and later working with the Teatro Independent Experimental. She chose Vera as her artistic surname in allusion to Vera de Bidasoa, a town in Navarre that she frequented as a child.

On stage, as a professional actress, she made her debut playing Anne in the leading role of The Diary of Anne Frank, a theatrical adaptation of the famous book. She was one of the first actresses to rebel against censorship, starring in a nude on the stage when she detached herself from the safety pin that she held to her tunic on her neckline in the play Why are you running, Ulysses? by Antonio Gala.

In 1971 he made his first film appearance in the short film El diablo Cojuelo.

A whole career full of unforgettable performances, she has always been a reference for freedom, which is why she is considered the muse of the Transition. However, this has brought her an unfair reputation for ephemeral or short-term success, when in reality Victoria Vera has participated in multiple works with prestigious casts. Thus, she has worked with film legends such as Omar Sharif, Anthony Quinn, Alida Valli, Peter Fonda, Fernando Rey and even with the colorful rock singer Alice Cooper (in the movie Monster Dog).

In September 2011, in the context of the 35th anniversary of the publication, he posed for Interviú magazine.
