ISBN 9875453870, ISBN 9789875453876 Rincón del Diablo is an isolated village north of the province of Santa Fe, the scene of a tragic duel with a knife, origin of a dark legend that organizes and defines the life of the people, perhaps as in all the peoples. On that legend surrounded by a halo of mystery, with bodies that disappear and ghosts of appearing, this new novel by Victor Heredia is mounted to build an exciting and rigorous rural thriller. Cipriano Airala is a solo field pawn but also, and above all, a self-taught reflexive and refined, which has a prodigious memory and a natural capacity for the story. Every Saturday night, the people of the village and the surroundings meet in the bowl of the plunder to listen, seduced and credulous, the oral versions of the classic police and terror of all the times that Cipriano Airala relates. It is almost inevitable that Cipriano will then become the informant chosen by the bureau Commissioner Di Paola, who comes to the town to desent that crime, fed up with the ghost stories that throw the area. Their intense dialogues stage a dialectical game between subtlety and brutality, wisdom and ignorance, law and truth, and between the manipulation of words and bodies. With rigor, intelligence, and also with humor, Rincón del Diablo is thus inscribed in the best tradition of Argentine literature, which knows how to enter fiction and politics, from Echeverria to Rodolfo Walsh.
