Vera Valentinovna Alentova (Вера Валентиновна Алентова, Kotlace, in the Archangel region, February 21, 1942) is a Russian actress.

Biography

The daughter of a family of actors, she studied drama at the Academic Art Theater School in 1965 and has worked at the Pushkin Theater in Moscow ever since. During her studies she met Vladimir Menshov, whom she married.

Alentova was declared the best actress of the year in Russia in 1980, and has been an Emeritus Artist of Russia since 1982 and a People's Artist of Russia since 1992.

The film Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears won the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
