The Venustiano Carranza territorial demarcation is located in the central-eastern area of Mexico City. It borders to the north with the Gustavo A. Madero mayor's office, to the west with the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office, to the south with the Iztacalco mayor's office and to the east with the municipality of Nezahualcóyotl. This name was given in honor of Venustiano Carranza, revolutionary leader who promulgated the Mexican Constitution of 1917. Its emblem represents the symbol of the Xochiacan people, whose image appears in the Mendoza Codex (or also called Mendocino) where the flower means: &# 34;place of fragrant flowers".

History

The 1970s began and Mexico City was in the midst of a demographic and territorial expansion process, which led the local authorities to edit the jurisdictional profile of the former "Noble, Distinguished and Very Loyal and Imperial Mexico City". This is how on December 29, 1970, several reforms to the law were made.

Location and characteristics

The Venustiano Carranza mayor's office is located in the central-eastern area of Mexico City. It borders to the north with the Gustavo A. Madero mayor's office, to the west with the Cuauhtémoc mayor's office, to the south with the Iztacalco mayor's office and to the east with the State of Mexico.

Its West Longitude is: 99° 02' and 99° 08' and its North Latitude is: 19° 24' and 19° 28'

The limits contained in the Official Gazette, consider the decrees of December 15 and 17, 1898, as well as that of July 27, 1994, issued by the Honorable Congress of the Union. They ratify the Agreements entered into with the states of Morelos and Mexico, in which the Venustiano Carranza Mayor's Office is delimited as follows:

From the center of the Tlatel de los Barcos marker, which defines one of the vertices of the border line in Mexico City and the State of Mexico, it heads southeast along this border line and then southwest along the axis of the Peripheral Ring Project, adapted to the inflections of the limit of the Alameda Oriental, up to its intersection with Vía Tapo.

From here, it continues along the axis of Calle 7 to the center of Majonera de los Barcos, which is located at its intersection with the axis of Avenida Chimalhuacán, from where it separates from this line and continues in a southwesterly direction, along the axis of the channel diverted from the Churubusco River.

Then, continue along the same course to the southwest, cross Calzada Ignacio Zaragoza and continue until you find the axis of Avenida Río de la Piedad, following its route to the northwest; It connects with the Miguel Alemán Viaduct, on this axis it continues towards the southeast until its intersection with the axis of Calzada de la Viga, along whose axis it heads north.

Then, it continues in the same direction along the axis of the Anillo de Circunvalación and Vidal Alcocer avenues, up to the Avenida del Trabajo (Eje 1 Oriente), along whose axis it extends northwest, until it reaches Calle de Boleo, by which, on its axis, it continues to the north.

It immediately crosses Avenida Canal del Norte and continues to the northwest along the axis of Avenida Ferrocarril Hidalgo, until it crosses with Avenida Río Consulado, where it heads southeast, following all its inflections, until its intersection with Avenida Oceania.

From this point it continues to the northeast, until it reaches the axis of Vía Tapo; from here it goes southeast until it crosses with Calle 602, to continue from this point in the same direction along the fence that limits the International Airport of Mexico City, until its intersection with the border line of Mexico City with the Estado de México and continue along this heading southeast to the center of the Tlatel de los Barcos landmark, the starting point.

It has an area of 33.42km², which represents 2.24% of the total area of Mexico City. The maximum elevation of this entity is represented by Cerro Peñón de los Baños, which has a height of 2290 meters above sea level.
