The Venezuelan school uniform is the type of school uniform implemented in Venezuela by the Ministry of Popular Power for Education (MPPE) of said country at the end of the century XX as part of the promulgation of a new organic Education law still in force today. The Venezuelan school uniform has four variants and was mandatory for the entire public and private education system, until 2015, when National Gazette number 40,739 published the approval of Resolution 075 of the Ministry of Education, eliminating said obligation.

History

The Venezuelan school uniform was approved by presidential decree No. 1139 by Luis Herrera Campins, dated July 15, 1981, which was later published in Official Gazette No. 32271 on July 16, 1981, as part of the great changes that were made to the country's educational system.

Variants

The Venezuelan school uniform has four variants which are used depending on the year of education being taken. Its use is regulated by the Ministry of Popular Power for Education (MPPE) of Venezuela and is mandatory for all levels of education except the university level.

Although there are standards for the uniform, in each institution, high school, college or public school there may be minor differences compared to other educational centers, the main characteristic being the use of the instinctive, seal, shield or insignia of the educational unit on the uniform shirt or flannel.

Initial education

During initial education, the mandatory uniform consists of the use of a red or yellow shirt, chemise or flannel and navy or dark blue pants or jeans. Generally the use of red or yellow depends on the educational institution. Yellow is usually used in the first level, while red is used in the second and third level.

Primary education

During primary education that goes from the first grade (1st grade) to the sixth grade (6th grade) the uniform that must be worn consists of a white shirt, chemise or flannel and pants, jean or skirt (in the case of women, the use of a skirt is not mandatory, and women and men wear pants equally) of navy blue or dark blue i>. In the case of skirts, it is generally accompanied by white knee-length stockings and black or brown loafers.

Secondary education: general secondary, technical secondary and youth, adult and adult modality

Students who attend from the 1st year to the 3rd year must wear a light blue chemise and a jean or skirt (In the case of women, the use of a skirt is not mandatory, and women and men's pants) in navy blue or dark blue. In the case of skirts, it is generally accompanied by white knee-length stockings and black shoes.

The last stage of education that must use the uniform is the one that goes from the 4th year, 5th year and 6th year which must wear a beige shirt or flannel and pants, jeans or skirt (In the case of women, the use of a skirt is not mandatory, and women and men wear pants equally) of navy blue or dark blue. In the case of skirts, it is generally accompanied by white knee-high stockings and black loafers.

In the modality of youth, adults and adults, a uniform is not required. Even so, it must be governed by regulations to avoid the use of inappropriate clothing.

Other uses

Although without official status at the national level, some university centers have adopted the use of a uniform for their students, these Universities are largely military-type, so the uniform used is based on the military uniform of the Armed Forces from Venezuela. Other higher education institutions that have included the use of the uniform within their regulations have been institutes specialized in the area of Tourism or other areas such as the Hotel Escuela in the city of Mérida who has adopted up to 6 different variants of the uniform for its students. for use depending on the moment or the action to be performed during class

Special cases

The school sports uniform is also usually used, consisting of a white flannel (T-shirt) (or another color depending on the rules of each institution) and 'overalls' type pants. Rules for the use of school uniform

Each institution can establish its rules for wearing the school uniform. However, here is a compendium of general rules:

  • Every pupil must have his uniform impeccable and in good condition.
  • In liceos from 1 year to 5th year, students use pants, skirts or jeans. In the case of wearing skirts it must go to the height of the knees (the use of mini skirts is strictly forbidden).
  • In case of wearing jeans these should always be marine blue and be in good condition. The use of weaned jeans, "nevated" or torn. For this reason, many institutions forbade the use of jeans and instead implemented the use of navy blue dressing pants.
  • Can be used sweaters or jackets in case of cold weather whenever they play with the uniform.
