Vegetable apex

The arrow points to the blade apex.

In botany or zoology, apex designates the upper end or tip (from the Latin apex, with the same meaning) of the leaf, fruit, polyp, etc The adjective apical can be applied to flowers, fruits, or cnidarians, with the meaning of the most distal. Distal, in turn, is what is located towards the opposite end of the base or basal part of the organ in question, such as the oral zone of anthozoans.

In an organ, for example a leaf, we must distinguish between the organic apex, through which the organ can grow distally, endowed with meristematic tissue, and the geometric apex, which is simply the point furthest from the base.
