Valdesqui
Valdesquí is a ski resort located in the Sierra de Guadarrama (mountain belonging to the Central System), on the northern slope of the Bola del Mundo and Cerro de Valdemartín mountains. It is located in the municipality of Rascafría, in the northwest of the Community of Madrid (Spain). Although its skiable area of 220 hectares is small when compared to others in the Pyrenees or the Alps, it is the largest and busiest in the entire mountain range and the Community of Madrid. It has 22 km of skiing, 21 lifts, and access by road from Segovia and Madrid. The Cotos railway does not reach the station, with Cotos station being 2.7 km away.
Description
It is a small ski resort with a fairly high minimum elevation, above 1800 m, from where the provinces of Segovia and Madrid can be seen.
This station, inaugurated in 1972, constitutes one of the leisure areas for the inhabitants of Madrid and Segovia due to the proximity of both cities. The fact that it is located on the northern slope means that it receives a large amount of snow from the storms coming from the north and that in turn the snow stays particularly well on the slopes.
Services
Valdesquí has two cafeterias, equipment rental, ski school, first aid clinic, private parking, public parking, snowmobiles, snow groomers, Unimog trucks for cleaning accesses, telephone, customer service office, public address system, sale of ski and snow items, lockers and access control to slopes.
There is a regional bus line, 691, that leaves from the Moncloa Station in Madrid and takes to the ski resort, stopping first at the ports of Navacerrada and Cotos. By train you can access the Cotos Station, belonging to Line C-9 of Cercanías Madrid, located in the port of the same name, 2.7 km from Valdesquí.
