Unit Conversion

Conversion tables, in this case a small sample of values of three different magnitudes has been taken, as a graphic example.

The conversion of units is the transformation of the numerical value of a physical magnitude, expressed in a certain unit of measurement, into another equivalent numerical value and expressed in another unit of measurement of the same nature.

This process is usually done with the use of "conversion factors" or unit conversion tables.

Frequently it is enough to multiply by a fraction (a factor of a conversion) and the result is another equivalent measurement, in which the units have changed. When the change of units implies the transformation of several units, several conversion factors can be used one after the other, so that the final result will be the equivalent measurement in the units we are looking for.

For example, to convert 8 meters to yards, knowing that one meter is equal to 1.093613 yards, multiply 8 by 1.093613; which results in 8.748904 yards since if you measure 9 yards it equals 9.839805
