The Unión Balompédica Conquense is a Spanish football team, from the city of Cuenca, in Castilla-La Mancha. It was founded on April 16, 1946 and currently plays in Group XVIII of the Third Federation, with its historic ceiling being second place in the former third national category, the Second Division B.

History

The team was born in 1946. In the 1987-88 season it debuted in Second Division B. In the 2004/05 season the team was among the top four, qualifying for the promotion phase. Winning in the semi-final, they were defeated in the final by Real Madrid B.

The following season the team was relegated to the Third Division. In the 2006/07 season, Conquense came first in the Castilian-La Mancha group with 92 points, six ahead of Guadalajara. In the semi-final of the promotion phase, they defeated Club Deportivo San Fernando 2-0 on aggregate. In the final, they faced Sociedad Deportiva Negreira. The first leg, played in Negreira, ended with a goalless draw. In the second leg, played in La Fuensanta on June 24, 2007, Conquense won 3-0, scoring all the goals in the first half, thus achieving promotion. In the 2009/2010 season they finished 10th in Group II of Second Division B.

In the 2010/2011 season they were in Group I of Second Division B. Despite a great start, they placed 16th in the regular season, so they had to play for promotion to avoid relegation.. The rival was Caudal Deportivo, a team that had placed 16th in group II of Second Division B. The first match was played at the La Fuensanta Stadium on May 22, 2011, with a 2-0 result in favor of the team. UB Conquense, with goals from Berodia (minute 36) and Cristian (minute 48). The second leg was played at the Caudal Deportivo field, the Hermanos Antuña Stadium on May 29, 2011, with a score of 2-1. Caudal Deportivo's goals were scored by Carlos Álvarez (85th minute) and Jose Luis (94th minute), while UB Conquense's goal was scored by Belencoso in extra time, in the 114th minute. Thus, UB Conquense achieved permanence one more year in the bronze category of Spanish football.

In the 2011/2012 season, Conquense finished again in 16th position and competed for promotion. However, this time the relegation did happen due to the defeat against Real Zaragoza B both away from their field (1-0) and on their own (0-3), thus abandoning the bronze category after five consecutive years in her.

In the 2012/2013 season, the team from Cuenca had a great season and played in the promotion phase to Second Division B. Passing the three qualifying rounds and returning to the bronze category of Spanish football.

Career

Palmarés

The first official title in just over 60 years of history of the UB Conquense was obtained in the 1984-85 Third Division League Cup. The team reached the final after successively eliminating SDG Segoviana, CD Fuensalida, CD Oberena and Portmany SD. The rival in the final was UD Las Palmas Atlético. The first match, in Gran Canaria, ended with a 2-0 local victory. The second leg was played in La Fuensanta on June 29, 1985; As Conquense also won 2-0, extra time had to be played, in which after a goal from UD Las Palmas Atlético the locals were able to score two goals and with the final 4-1 they obtained the first official title in the history of the Cuenca football. In August 2010 he won the Castilla-La Mancha trophy, in the final he beat Albacete Balompié in the penalty shootout.
