Art of the United Kingdom is an expression used to refer to artistic production in the United Kingdom. The use of the expressions English art or British art is much more frequent, although the geographical definition to which it may strictly refer (England and Great Britain) is older. Its chronological location also has ambiguity problems, since it designates in a variable way (according to the intention of the person making the designation) the whole of the Kingdom of England, the Kingdom of Scotland and the Principality of Wales, to which are added, according to the historical juncture, all or part of Ireland (since 1922 only Northern Ireland) and the different areas that have formed part of the British Empire.
