20 (XX) was a leap year beginning on Monday of the Julian calendar, in effect on that date. In the Roman Empire, it was known as the Year of the Consulate of Mesala and Cota (or less frequently, year 773 Ab urbe condita). The designation 20 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the A.D. era became the prevalent European method of naming years.
