TV Brazil
TV Brasil is a Brazilian public television network owned by Empresa Brasil de Comunicação, S.A., with programming throughout the country. It is present in Brasilia (DF), Rio de Janeiro (RJ), São Paulo (SP), São Luís (MA), and 21 other states through the television stations that are members of the Public Television Network. Its studios and transmission plant are located in Brasilia. The channel premiered its programming on December 2, 2007, at noon, the same day digital TV broadcasts began in Brazil.
The channel aims to complement and expand the offer of audiovisual content, and offer programming with an informative, cultural, artistic, scientific and citizen focus.
TVBrasil is today one of the largest exhibition windows for independent audiovisual production in the country, allocating 20% of its programming hours to it. On the other hand, in five years, he participated as co-producer of around 140 productions, including documentaries, series, feature films and short films.
History
TV Brasil was born from the creation of Empresa Brasil de Comunicação, S.A., on October 25, 2007, through the decree published in the Official Gazette of the Union. The company was born from the merger of the assets of the former Radiobrás and the Roquette Pinto Educational Communication Association (In Portuguese: ACERP - Associação de Comunicação Educativa Roquette Pinto) which coordinated TVE Brazil.
The channel began its broadcasts on December 2 in the cities of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília and São Luís.
2008
That year the channel began to cover events such as the Carnival in Recife and Salvador and the June festivities in Bahia, Pernambuco and Sergipe with the help of its affiliates. The channel broadcast the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Paralympic Games.
The channel also did integrated coverage with other EBC channels such as the Olympic Games and the 2008 elections.
Also, in the first half of 2008, the then director-chief of the news program 'Reporter Brasil', Luis Lobo, was fired. At that time, Lobo accused the government of interfering in the dissemination of matters contrary to the government. The board of directors of TV Brasil refuted Lobo's accusations.
Until the end of 2008, only Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasília and São Luís could tune into TV Brasil on open analog channel. The open signal became available in Sao Paulo (on December 2, commemorating one year of TV Brasil, the channel inaugurated its digital channel in Sao Paulo, but suffered interference caused by a telephone company, forcing the transfer to channel 62.
2009
At the beginning of the year, the Network brings its first Affiliation, bringing coverage in the State of Tocantins and in the southwest of Maranhão: TV Palmas, on January 1 of that year after a 12-year affiliation with TV Cultura.
In the month of October, TV Cultura Amazonas also retransmits the programming of the TV Brasil network, and no longer retransmits the programming of TV Cultura São Paulo. Unlike TV Palmas, it does not have coverage in the entire State of Amazonas, only in the state of Manaus and in Itacoatiara on Channel 3.
On October 16, the president of the EBC, Tereza Cruvinel, announced the creation of the international channel, focused on immigrants and Africa was the first continent to receive broadcasts in 2010.
2010
In January 2010, the governor of Rio Grande do Sul, Yeda Crusius, rejected TV Brasil's offer of free transmission for the State through TVE RS. The governor decided to pay R$20,000 per month to broadcast programs on TV Cultura of São Paulo. The rejection is in retaliation for reporting the account of the corruption scandal in the local government as the network points out.
On February 9, at the press conference after the announcement of the 2010 readjustment of the regional minimum wage, Governor José Serra became irritated with the question of the TV Brasil journalist about the lack of water in the state capital and questioning how Serra was due to the fact that 750,000 people were there for three days without a supply of vital liquid. The governor responded that the São Paulo State Basic Sanitation Company (Sabesp) was doing everything possible to repair the broken pipe, which expires in 48 hours, is not repaired and has no prediction. Serra went on to criticize the network: "I hope that TVBRASIL has the same interest (that is, São Paulo) for each state and each county." Asked by another journalist if he felt persecuted by TV Brasil, the governor responded: "No, on the contrary, a great concern that he would have to spread it everywhere." Between February 12 and 16, the station broadcasts the Salvador de Bahía Carnival through TVE Bahía.
On May 3, the station officially begins to operate the National Public Communication Network (RNCP), made up of the four EBC channels, 7 university channels and 15 state stations.
On May 13, the start of operations of TV Brasil Internacional was announced, on May 24, across Africa, as predicted. At an event held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a live conversation took place between President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva and the President of Mozambique, Armando Guebuza in Maputo. The channel will not be available only in five African countries: Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco. The start for Africa is justified because it is the first contract closed with the local cable retransmission distributor with Multichoice. Unlike other international channels, broadcasting in their language, but with subtitles in the languages of the host countries, at this initial moment, without subtitles.
On October 9, TV Brasil begins to broadcast the quarterfinals of the Brazilian Soccer Series C exclusively for Brazil, in association with the CBF.
2011

2012
In May 2012, TV Brasil Internacional reached 68 countries, including Portugal, the United States, Japan, Latin America and Africa. The objective is to reach several cities in Europe, with a large concentration of Brazilians, such as London, Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, Vienna and Brussels until 2012.
2013
On November 3, 2013, the network achieved audience leadership for the first time in the Brazilian capital. It happened in Recife, in a Serie C match that ensured Santa Cruz's return to Serie B of the Brazilian Championship.
2014

On February 15, 2016, TVE MS stopped broadcasting TV Brasil programming. The justification was that the station was not fulfilling its main role, which was to transmit information and educational content throughout its schedule, in addition to not having quality programming, using the public TV of São Paulo (TV Cultura) as a model in the discussion. where it was considered by the BBC in London to be the second best station in the world and the first in the Americas in educational and quality programming. Regarding the restructuring of the South-Mato Grosso public station, meetings were held with the executives representing the Padre Anchieta Foundation, where they made network head agreements in Mato Grosso do Sul, including multiprogramming where the state station is already authorized to use. At the beginning, the programming of the São Paulo station was partially broadcast, mixed with TV Brasil, but currently it does not retransmit the programming of the Rio public station, leaving only independent, own educational programs and the programming of the São Paulo station.

2017
On November 22, EBC officials released a note condemning the racist attacks by the company's president, Laerte Rímoli, against Taís Araújo and his son. The document is endorsed by the journalists' unions of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and the Federal District. Rímoli used social networks to share memories that ironicized the actress's statement about the daily racism suffered by her son. For the officials, "Rímoli disrespected not only the actress Taís Araújo, but also the entire Brazilian society and the EBC itself." "This deplorable behavior goes against the position of the employees, who always fought for diverse, inclusive public communication, free of prejudices," says a fragment of the note. Officials say that Rímoli's position hurts the codes of ethics of public officials and journalists and demanded that she be removed.

2018
The station launches its new programming on February 19, changing the schedules of its programs and extending the children's programming until 5:15 p.m. with the premiere of Mika's Diary and also the drawings Godofredo, Osmar, the first slice of bread and The Adventures of Fujiwara Manchester. In addition to premiering the programs Viralizado presented by youtuber Alan Ribeiro and also by Antenize with presentation by Karina Cardoso and the second season of the miniseries Natália.
On May 2, 2018, ambassador Alexandre Parola takes over as president of the company, replacing Laerte Rímoli. Parola remained in office for a short time, leaving in October.
2019
On February 22, 2019, business administrator Alexandre Henrique Graziani was appointed by the president of the republic Jair Bolsonaro to be the new president of the station.
On April 10, 2019, TV Brasil announced new programming and a new flagship, replacing TV NBR due to spending cuts by the Bolsonaro Government.
Budgets and Executive Control
The EBC is linked to the Secretariat of Social Communication of the Presidency. It is headquartered in Brasilia, but there are production centers and regional offices in Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Maranhão and Rio Grande do Sul.
The company is responsible for TV Brasil, TV Brasil Internacional, Radios Nacional de Rio de Janeiro, AM and FM of Brasília, the Amazon and Alto Solimões, Radios MEC AM and FM of Rio de Janeiro and Radio MEC AM of Brasília, Agência Brasil and the Radioagência Nacional.
EBC funds come from the Federal Budget, in addition to funds from the sale of programs, brand licensing, donations, institutional advertising, sponsorship of programs and services to public and private organizations.
In 2011, the EBC Group Budget amounted to RS 430.4 million.
Like other public companies, the EBC is externally controlled by the Department of Internal Control of the Presidency (CISET / PR) and the Court of Accounts - TCU.
Programming
TV Brasil's programming is made up of four hours of independent and regional production, as well as some other programs broadcast by public broadcasters, such as Roda Viva from TV Cultura of São Paulo. TV Brasil's programming is divided into thematic axes: sports, children's, animation, audiovisual, citizenship. One of the main attractions of the station are national films and documentaries, which are shown three times a week.
Brazil maintains in its television program some programs inherited from the defunct TVE Brasil such as Sin Censura with Leda Nagle and Arte with Sérgio Britto, which will be reformatted due to the death of the actor.
In 2011, the station had almost half of its schedule (45.8%) produced internally. Independent production has maintained its place on schedule, accounting for approximately 21.5% of total program hours watched, well above the 5% required by law to create the EBC.
