Tuxedomoon is an American rock and avant-garde music band, with an unclassifiable style, capable of instrumenting new wave, jazz fusion themes. or purely experimental, using traditional instruments and synthesizers. Created in San Francisco, United States, in 1977 by two electronic music students, Blaine Reininger and Steven Brown. Other important musicians who participated at some point in the formation are Peter Principle and Winston Tong. During part of their history they have lived in Belgium.

In 1980 they released their first LP, Half Mute. In 1982, the choreographer Maurice Béjart commissioned the music for the ballet Divine, a tribute to Greta Garbo. In 1983 Reininger left the group to pursue his solo career. In 1985 they published Holy Wars, which became their greatest commercial success. Wim Wenders uses the theme Some Guys in the opening scenes of his film Sky Over Berlin.

Her last studio album was You, released in 1987.

They have opened for Devo, Cabaret Voltaire, Pere Ubu and The Residents and currently Tuxedomoon, despite never having gained popularity, is currently considered a cult group.
