Miniature of Poem of Troy: Jason and the dragon, Helena's rapture and Troy's fire. (Ca. 1330; BnF).

The Poem of Troy (Le Roman de Troie) is a French narrative poem composed by Benoît de Sainte-Maure, who wrote it around the year 1170.

The Poem of Troy is a composition in eight syllables, with just over 30,000 verses, and which belongs to the roman courtois genre, and within this, to Roman theme.

It chronicles the Trojan War from its beginnings to the return of the heroes.

It is noteworthy that this poem was not based on Homer, but on the stories of Dares and Dictis, so it adds a component of loving details and wonders that its characters encountered during their stay in what is now Turkey.
