In linguistics

• to the transcript, representation of a spoken language in written characters; also, graphic representation of pronunciation of a word of another language;
• to the phonetic transcription, a specific type of transcription where a detailed system is used to write down phonetic details of sounds, while non-phonic transcripts only portray phenological contrasts
• to the transliteration, to a reliable representation of an graph that was originally written in an alphabet with the signs of another alphabet.

In genetics

• to the transcript, DNA conversion in RNA before protein expression.

In music

• to the transcript, rewrite a song, either to clarify some aspect or to adapt it to another instrument; write a score from an audio recording. The musical transcription: it is done by listening to a melody, whatever type, and the sound information is transferred to a staff.

In logic programming

• to the transcript, the process through which an algorithm becomes an instruction list that can understand the computer.
