Tom Skerritt
Thomas Roy Skerritt (Detroit, Michigan, August 25, 1933), better known as Tom Skerritt, is an American actor.
His debut on television was in 1962 in the series Combat!. Her film debut was with the film War Hunt (1962), produced by Terry Sanders.
In 1966, he appeared in the series The Fugitive with David Janssen, in the role of Pete, in the episode Joshua's Kingdom, a sheriff fired by being irresponsible and harassing Ruth (Kim Darby), a teenager who had had a baby and her father Joshua (Harry Townes) considered her a disgrace, supported by certain verses from the Bible interpreted in his own way.
The most important films in which he has appeared are M*A*S*H (1970), Alien (1979), Top Gun i> (1986) and Steel Magnolias (1989). He has also participated in the television series Picket Fences.
He co-starred in the film Poltergeist III, released in June 1988. Skerritt moved to Seattle, Washington in 1988.
He continued playing solid roles in the 1990s, starring in The River of Life (1992) by Robert Redford and Contact (1997) by Robert Zemeckis, alongside Jodie Foster and Matthew McConaughey. More recently, he starred in the American war drama Field of Lost Shoes (2014), playing Ulysses S. Grant.
Simultaneously with his extensive film career, Skerritt had great successes on the small screen. He was a guest on The Real McCoys and also appeared on series such as Combat!, Bonanza, Gunsmoke, Cheers and < i>Picket Fences, for which he won an Emmy Award in 1993. In 2006 he played the late patriarch William Walker in the ABC series Brothers and Sisters and that same year he had a leading role in the ABC miniseries Fallen. He has also appeared in Homeland Security , The Grid , Leverage and The Good Wife , among many others.
