Tilioideae is a subfamily of phanerogams belonging to the Malvaceae family.

The tiliaceae are trees and shrubs, rarely herbs. Alternate, simple leaves, always cordate, ordinarily with deciduous stipules. inconspicuous flowers; hermaphrodites; actinomorphic; tetramers or pentamers; dialipétalas; stamens numerous, often fasciculate (polyadelphus); Syncarpic gynoecium, superior ovary, with 2 - 10 closed carpels. Inflorescences in dicasium of dicasiums, with metatopy, in some cases provided with a large membranous bract. Capsular or nuciform fruits. About 400 species, some from temperate zones, but most tropical.
