In construction, the tile brick, grid brick or manual, is a type of traditionally manufactured rough brick. They usually have an approximate size but not equal to each other. Its appearance is rough, with roughness on its faces that is not very flat. Its use is widespread in the rehabilitation of buildings, since it was a material widely used for centuries in popular architecture.

Tile bricks are also called "grid" because they were cooked on racks, which was the way to place them (in piles) to proceed with cooking. The quality of the brick was given by its location in the grid at the time of firing.

The classification from less cooked to more cooked and consequently from lower to higher quality was: porteros, pardos, pintones, recochos, escafilados and santos. The most appreciated were the recochos, the escafilados were used in chests, the porters were useless since they were little or not at all cooked in some cases simply dry, the saints were twisted, black and burned with excess cooking.
