On the loose rope.

A tightrope is a rope that, unlike a taut cable, is slack and is commonly confused with a taut cable or rope. It is held at both ends, detached from the ground and with a slight curvature due to its loosening. The height at which it is found varies according to the skill of the performer and the security possibilities of the site. Generally barefoot, the person achieves stability without the help of other objects. Tightrope walker is the acrobat who performs exercises on a tightrope or wire.

Among the difficulties that are practiced on the rope are the following:

  • Walking back
  • Balance on one foot
  • Sit down, lie down, kneel, etc on the rope
  • Play juggling games on the rope

Some variations of the rope act are performed using mechanical elements such as bicycles, unicycles, and even motorcycles.

Other uses

When referring to the term tightrope, it can be used metaphorically, to refer to someone in danger, either in their health or losing their job, for example.
