The TIE interceptor is a starfighter model of the Galactic Empire in the fictional Star Wars saga.

TIE Interceptors are upgraded versions of TIE fighters. They made their first film appearance at the Battle of Endor. The innovations with respect to its predecessor are a noticeable increase in the hull armor, and the generation of low power shields, the increase in speed and a spectacular increase in the maneuverability of the ship. In addition, its armament was doubled, including four SFS L-s9.3 laser cannons.

While this model was a great improvement to the Imperial arsenal, it still retains the main lack of its TIE Fighter and TIE Bomber predecessors: a hyperdrive that allows it to reach light speed.

In speed and maneuverability it can be compared to the A-wing of the Rebellion, but in firepower it can be compared to the X-wing, the Rebel standard ship, which makes it the most versatile and economical fighter for the Empire.
