Themba Dlamini
Absalom Themba Dlamini (born December 1, 1950) is a Swazi politician, who served as Prime Minister of Swaziland from 2003 to 2008, appointed by King Mswati III.
He had previously been the managing director of Tibiyo Takangwane, a company owned by the Swazi royal family.
Biographical review
Dlamini graduated with a bachelor's degree from the University of Botswana and Swaziland in 1978 and in 1987 obtained a master's degree from the University of Nairobi.
In the public sector, he held various executive positions in institutions and companies such as the Swaziland National Provident Fund, the Central Bank of Swaziland and the Swaziland Industrial Development Company. Additionally, Dlamini served as a director in many Swazi companies. Since 1991 he has been the director and president of Tibiyo TakaNgwane, a national organization for the preservation of Swazi culture and the development of economic strategies.
Dlamini was appointed Prime Minister of Swaziland on November 14, 2003. King Mswati III honored him with the "Royal Medal of Supreme Adviser to King Sobhuza II Royal Decree". He remained in office until September 18, 2008, when Bheki Dlamini was appointed acting prime minister. On October 16, 2008, she was succeeded by former Prime Minister Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini.
