The VRP
Les VRP is a French parody rock group, created in Paris in 1988.
History
In 1988 the five members founded the band Les VRP, standing out for their clothing and music mixed with street theater. They became known thanks to the chorus Alexandrie by Claude-François, played on the program Génération Rock.
The group then began to record their own songs and released their first album. In 1990 they released their second album and began an international tour with growing public support. The third and last album was released in 1992, when they decided to end their career at their most successful moment. The farewell recital was in 1993, at the Zénith de Montpellier; At the end they broke their instruments.
Members
- Marc, percussions
- Gilbert, guitar
- Gilberd, children's keyboard
- Stefane, contre-bassine

Instruments and technique
The VRP played on traditional instruments such as guitars or accordion but above all they played with their own instruments made by themselves: the contre-bassine made with a broom handle, a bucket and metal strings, Marc's percussions were spoons.
His musical style is difficult to pigeonhole. His style is close to French popular songs but with a certain similarity to rock. (See also "Gypsy Jazz").
