History

La Voz de Galicia was founded in 1882 by Juan Fernández Latorre as a republican, progressive and free-thinking newspaper. During the First World War its positions were between neutrality and an allyophilia " de facto". Already consolidated in the years of the Second Republic with a circulation of more than 20,000 copies, it was in the sixties, with the arrival of Santiago Rey Fernández-Latorre to the management, when La Voz begins its expansion, achieving several milestones: it undertakes a technical renovation, exceeds 100,000 copies of daily circulation, becomes the sixth newspaper in Spain with the largest audience and creates the edition system that covers all of Galicia. In 1885 he had created the Galician Library, a publishing house with the aim of disseminating the work of Galician writers.

In the eighties it advanced towards its conversion into a multimedia group, leading to the subsequent birth of the Voz de Galicia Corporation, which operates in multiple fields of communication. Its activity is carried out by various companies:

Editions

The newspaper publishes thirteen daily editions every day, prepared from twenty-six points (delegations, subdelegations and correspondents). Each edition is distinguished by an interior booklet that collects all the local information, a specific first page (cover) for each area and specific news from each area in the general body of the newspaper, especially in the sports section.

La Voz de Galicia created its first branch outside of La Coruña in 1953, with the opening of the Ferrol branch. In 1959 the Santiago de Compostela delegation was opened; in 1964, that of Carballo, and so on progressively until 1978, when the seven main Galician cities had a local editorial office.
