The Snows of Kilimanjaro (in English: The Snows of Kilimanjaro) is a 1952 American film Based on the homonymous story by Ernest Hemingway, directed by Henry King and with Gregory Peck, Susan Hayward and Ava Gardner as main actors. The film was nominated for two Oscars: for best artistic direction and for best photography.
Plot
Harry Street (Gregory Peck) is a writer who has been seriously injured in a hunting accident in Africa. He is prostrate in his bunk in the camp set up near the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. In his feverish fits he recalls his past and how he lost the woman he loved the most (Ava Gardner) and who is now dead. He reproaches himself for having put his work as a writer before his private life, and considers himself a failure. His wife Helen (Susan Hayward) looks after him while they wait for help to arrive. She is understanding and shows her love for her. Little by little Harry realizes that together with his wife he will be able to rebuild his life.

It was not easy for Henry King to convince Gregory Peck to participate in the project since he had worked on another adaptation of the famous novelist and it had been a failure.
Once everything was ready for shooting, the film was shot in Tanzania. It was also shot in France, Spain and Egypt. It was shot between February 10, 1952 and April 21, 1952.
