El paraíso disdained is a romantic-love book by the Spanish writer Mauricio Bacarisse in which nature is very present

Analysis

Its last section is noteworthy -entitled De profundis (possibly included at the last minute so that the collection of poems would not be too short)-, in which it develops the theme of constant love beyond of death with the novelty of combining the Christian conception of resurrection and the atomic-molecular one. In addition to the influence of Francisco de Quevedo, that of San Juan de la Cruz is also present.

De profundis are the words that begin Psalm 129 of the Vulgate (130 of the modern Bible), in which the mercy of God is implored. Although they coincide in the title, from the thematic point of view this poem by Mauricio Bacarisse has nothing to do with the homonymous work by Óscar Wilde, although the mental attitude that motivates them is similar: in both cases it is about overcoming a love frustration with motives of Christian inspiration.
