With the creation of the current provinces in 1833, El Campo was framed in the province of Salamanca, within the Leonese Region, forming part of the Peñaranda de Bracamonte party, a town from which it took its last name so as not to confused with other towns in the province such as El Campo de Ledesma.

Monuments and places of interest
Parish Church of Our Lady of the Assumption
In the square, today paved, stands the church, dedicated to the Assumption of Our Lady, which gives it elegance and centrality. Because of its height and above all because of its tower, it stands out and can be seen from the entire region.
The exterior is brick, a typical construction of these lands. The two portals are interesting, the one facing north is very beautiful, today certainly not in use, and partly covered by the Chapel of the Annunciation, built in the 18th century, all of it made of sandstone. Its interior has much more interest that contrasts with the simplicity of the exterior.
Resolves the interior space in three naves separated by carpanel arches and Renaissance columns with fluted shaft and in the lower third filled with half pipes. The capitals with scrolls and floral theme in the four corners. It seems that it was made by Martín Navarro between 1560 and 1570.
The tower and the sacristy were built by Juan Burgueño at the end of the same 16th century (1594). They stand out on both cornices with ladder-shaped modillions that give a certain grace and break the monotony.
The interior of the church is covered by vaults with lunettes and groins.
