The path of the elephants
The Elephant Walk (in English: Elephant Walk) is a 1954 American film directed by William Dieterle, based on the novel of the same name by Robert Standish.
It is an immediate and inferior precedent of When the Marabunta Roars, also produced by Paramount with the same elements of exoticism, romance, passion and animal menace.
Synopsis
Ruth Wiley meets John Wiley, the wealthy owner of a tea plantation in Ceylon, by chance in a London bookstore. They fall in love and get married. They then travel to Ceylon, where they live on the plantation. There Ruth discovers that her husband and her friends have strange habits and, above all, they drink a lot. Dick Carver, Wiley's foreman, is different and becomes Ruth's friend and confidant. The plantation mansion is built on an old elephant trail, and is protected by a strong wall. When cholera breaks out in the region, everything begins to change.
