The Firm is a 1993 American film directed by Sydney Pollack and starring Tom Cruise, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Gene Hackman, Ed Harris, Holly Hunter, Hal Holbrook and David Strathairn in the lead roles. It is based on the 1991 novel of the same name by writer John Grisham.

Synopsis

Mitch McDeere has completed his law studies with flying colours, and is hired by a law firm. He and his wife Abigail & # 34; Abby & # 34; McDeere moves to the city of Memphis, where the office provides them with a home, a car and everything they need. As time goes by, McDeere begins to suspect that illegal operations are carried out in that office and that they kill all their lawyers who want to get out of this. This suspicion is finally confirmed by the FBI, when they kill a private investigator of theirs, who was investigating the deaths of said lawyers.

They inform him that the company is, among other things, the only legal representative of the Morolto Family of Chicago, a mafia organization there, who, through them, launder their illegal money and want him to help them prove it. Mitch resists, because he would lose his license and then he would have to go to the witness protection program, which would mean the end of his freedom, but he also doesn't want to know anything about that office that they filled him with money to later, over time, want to corrupt him for the benefit of his criminal interests.

When he discovers that his firm has also committed mail fraud to the detriment of all its clients for years, including the Moroltos, he sees the possibility of taking them down and satisfying the FBI without losing his license and his integrity and begins working at the regard. However, the office is watching him and he is already on his way to realizing his intentions. Mitch will have to use all his cunning to get out of this dangerous and compromising situation.
