Emperor of the North (original title: Emperor of the North Pole) is a 1973 American film directed by Robert Aldrich.

Synopsis

In the time of the Great Depression, many soldiers who have returned from the front become homeless due to lack of work. To travel around the country they use freight trains. The head of one of those trains (Ernest Borgnine) hates the bums, and when he finds them he mercilessly throws them off the train; he even goes so far as to cause his death. Homeless man A1 (Lee Marvin) is undeterred by the head of the train and openly defies him.
