The Crusader (in Spanish: El cruzado) is a weekly left-wing newspaper based in the city of Castries, Saint Lucia. It was founded by the former Minister of Foreign Affairs and former Ambassador to the United Nations Organization George Odlum. In 1997 the newspaper denounced police abuses and torture inside the country and in August 2000 began a series of reports in situ about the People's Republic of China, country with which Saint Lucia established diplomatic relations thanks to its publisher.[citation needed]
