The City Years is a novel by Frederik Pohl published in 1985, in which, through apparently unconnected stories, the reader is shown the evolution of a city and, above all, that of its inhabitants.

Plot Summary

The Years of the City is a novel in which a utopia is built from New York in five linked stories.

Reception

Dave Langford reviewed The Town Years for White Dwarf Magazine #64, stating that "There are cheesy elements (like the traditional whores and thieves with hearts of gold in the story). 1) and things I can't believe; but overall it's impressive, with just enough 'realistic' bitterness to match. to make us cynics swallow the sugary kernel of optimism".
