The Beast in the Cave (original title in English: The Beast in the Cave) is an early short story by H. P. Lovecraft, written when he was only fifteen years old.

It is reduced to a mere exercise in recreating or imitating gothic horror stories, almost bordering on plagiarism. However, it is curious to be able to verify the Gothic tradition in an early Lovecraft.
