The Acebeda
La Acebeda is a Spanish municipality in the province and Community of Madrid. It has a population of 63 inhabitants (2023).
Symbols
The heraldic shield and flag that represent the municipality were officially approved on June 30, 1994. The shield is emblazoned as follows:
«Partido. First silver, green tree (oil) on silver and sugar waves. Second of siple, two silver sheep. Spanish royal crown. »Official State Gazette No. 175 of 23 July 1994

Situation
It is located in the north of the province of Madrid, in the Somosierra mountain range, near the port of La Acebeda, 1686 meters high.

There are also many streams that come from the Somosierra mountain range, which flow into the Madarquillos river.
Monuments and places of interest
Cañada Real Segoviana
It runs through the municipal area, which crosses the Guadarrama mountain range.
Common housing
- The houses are normally made of stone masonry, with few holes, and always of wood.
- The common houses are very rural, and among them there are agricultural stays.
The Forge
- Rectangular building, restored, made with stone.
- Inside are the old furnace, the bellow and the blacksmith's anvil.
Outside the forge is 'the colt', used for shoeing animals.
Church of San Sebastian
- It is located in the center of the urban center, next to the Town Hall.
- It is baroque style, built in the centuryXVII, it's masonry and brick yarns, ractangular, with a ship, and has a body that means sacristy.
- It has many works of art, also very valuable, an altar with paintings of the year 1500, crucifixes of the centuryXVIAnd a silver baroque cross.
Sanctuary of the Virgen Blanca del Saz
- It is located about 2 kilometers from the urban center, in the creek of the Dehesa, and inside there is an image of the White Virgin. It was built in 1975 and the neighbors come in Rome every last Sunday of July.
Las Dehesas recreational area
- It is located at the exit of La Acebeda on the forest road to the neighboring village of Robregordo.
- There are trees, tables, banks, small waterfalls, and most importantly, a century millXVIIwhich was refurbished for restaurant and currently remains closed.
- There is also a campsite/hostel BTT with pool, which will soon be launched after a reform and change of destination to Hostel BTT.
Casa de la Peña
La Casa de la Peña is considered the first house to be built in La Acebeda. Located on a large stone, stone, wood and mud were mainly used in its construction. The gabled roof is made of Arabic tiles. In the constructions, the use of stone masonry predominates, rarely rendered or whitewashed, with few openings, lintels and jambs, always made of wood. It is a markedly rural architecture that combines agricultural stays with homes. These, in general, have semicircular ovens attached to their facades.
History
- The name of the municipality comes from the impressive amount of acebos that could be found in the municipality, of which, although few, remain some centenaries.
- The year 1833, like many other villages, became part of the province of Madrid, from the province of Segovia that it came from.
- The Acebeda was for centuries only of peasant population, until the centuryXX.when the population began to migrate to Madrid.
- The origin of the town comes from the Reconquista, when some pastors from the municipality of Horcajo de la Sierra, very close to La Acebeda, who made their transhumance routes with their cattle, began to build houses on the edge of the royal cane, century to century was growing in population, until in 1889, it reached its largest number of inhabitants of its history: 360 inhabitants.

It is celebrated on January 20 with a mass and a popular meal organized by the City Council.
Saint Michael's Festival
The town's patron saint festivities are celebrated on September 29, with festivals, dances, children's games... And the mass and procession organized by The Brotherhood of San Miguel.
