Terry and the pirates
Terry and the Pirates is the title of an American serial comic (Terry and the Pirates) created by Milton Caniff in 1934 and continued by George Wunder from December 30, 1946 (the day after Caniff left him) to February 25, 1973.
Milton Caniff began publishing the series on October 22, 1934 in daily strips and soon after, on December 9 of the same year, a parallel serial with another adventure of the characters.
In 1936 both serials ended: the newspaper, on August 22; and Sunday, August 23. The next day a story began to be published that would unify the action of the strips and the Sunday ones.
Terry and the Pirates was published very soon in other countries. In Spain, in the magazine Mickey, from Editorial Molino.
Plot
The adventure begins in the mid-1930s with young American Terry Lee arriving in China with his friend, journalist Pat Ryan. The two search for a lost mine, and are joined by George Webster "Connie" Confucius, a local guide. Together they will have to face pirates and other villains among which the fascinating femme fatale Dragon Lady stands out, who will become Terry's ally during World War II. During the war Terry will become a USAF pilot, Pat will join the Navy and Dragon Lady will be one of the leaders of the resistance against the Japanese invaders. After the war Terry will continue to work for the government.
