Contenido Tecciztécatl (from Nahuatl: tecciztecatl 'dweller of the snail''tecciztli, snail and by extension moon; tecatl, inhabitant of, inhabitant of, person of') In the Mexica mythology the personification of pride, is also the god who became the Moon, which could have been the Sun but backed down before the test, and instead Nanahuatzin became the star of the day. In some myths, he is the counterpart of the mysterious Tezcatlipoca, the night sky, antagonist of Huitzilopochtli.
It is also known as Tecuciztécatl or Tecuciztécal.
