Tauntaun

A tauntaun (plural tauntaun) is a fictional creature from the Star Wars film series. The tauntaun appear in Episode V of the saga, an episode titled in Spanish The Empire Strikes Back. Tauntauns were large bipedal beasts used as mounts by rebels on the planet Hoth. They had a large ram's head, with four nostrils and a pair of curved horns, and dense fur covering their theropod-like body. The tauntaun's natural predators are the wampas.

Han Solo ripped open the intestinal packet of a recently killed tauntaun with Luke Skywalker's lightsaber to place the young Jedi apprentice inside the beast. In this way, during the time necessary to prepare a shelter, Han Solo saved Skywalker's life by providing him with warmth in the midst of the snowstorm they faced on one of the plains of Hoth.
